Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Therapy provides a confidential space where you can explore your emotions, thoughts, and behaviors with the guidance of a qualified professional. This process encourages self-reflection on past experiences, addresses current difficulties, and promotes a deeper understanding of one’s identity and needs for future growth.

Unlike the support one might receive from friends or family, which can often be influenced by their personal biases and perspectives, a therapist creates a neutral and non-judgmental space. Their primary focus is to help you make sense of your experiences and cultivate healthier coping strategies. As you engage in this therapeutic journey, you can initiate significant transformations in your life, steering towards a more genuine and satisfying existence.

  • Teletherapy expands access beyond traditional in-person therapy. When life is busy, demands compete for your time, or distance is a barrier, teletherapy enables you to receive counseling wherever you are—in a private space where you feel comfortable talking openly—using just a computer, smartphone, or tablet with an internet connection.

You will receive a Zoom video link to your email before your session. All you need to do is click on the link, and I will be waiting for you.

In-person services are not available at this time.

  • Research shows that one of the most important factors in successful therapy is the relationship between you and your therapist. Feeling comfortable and understood truly matters.

As you consider whether a therapist is the right fit, here are two things to reflect on:

    • Do you feel at ease with them? Do you feel seen, heard, and genuinely listened to?

    • Does their approach match what you’re looking for? Some people want a supportive, listening presence; others prefer structure or specific goals. Think about what you need, and ask how their style aligns with that.

Trusting your gut in this process can make all the difference.

  • Yes, therapy sessions are strictly confidential. This means that what you share with your therapist stays private. Therapists are bound by professional ethics and laws to protect your privacy. However, there are a few important exceptions where they may be required to break confidentiality:

    • If there’s a risk of serious harm to yourself or others

    • If there’s suspected abuse or neglect of a child, elder, or vulnerable adult

    • If required by a court order or legal process

This practice uses secure platforms for online therapy sessions and maintains HIPAA-compliant records to ensure your personal information is protected.

  • Most clients begin with one 50-minute therapy session per week. Depending on what feels most supportive for your needs and goals, options such as longer 80-minute sessions or multiple sessions per week can be explored. These decisions are made together during the initial evaluation, with care and flexibility.

Creating meaningful change takes time and consistency. Regular weekly or biweekly sessions help build a strong foundation for growth. As progress unfolds, the frequency of sessions can be adjusted thoughtfully, with the shared goal of reaching a place where ending therapy feels right and well-earned.

  • That’s a great question, and the answer varies for each person. Generally, therapy lasts anywhere from 6 to 12 months. However, once you start working with a therapist, they’ll have a clearer idea of how long therapy might be helpful for you.

Therapy isn’t meant to be permanent — the goal is to support you in getting the tools you need so you can move forward and live your best life.

"The power for creating a better future is contained in the present moment: You create a good future by creating a good present."
